Currently working on watercolor portraits on canvas. Watercolor is traditionally done on white paper, but I love how the texture and color variations of the raw canvas comes thru the color. All these portraits are painted using only two colors: sepia and payne’s gray (a dark blue-grey), sometimes full-strength but mostly diluted with water.
Once the portrait is finished, I mount it on a wood panel and apply a mat varnish for protection. Most of my current painting are small format: 8″ x 8″ or 10″ x 10″. Some of these originals are available for sale, I’ll be adding more soon. I’m also accepting commissions, please send me a message if you would like to get a unique portrait from your own photo.
This watercolor portraits on canvas series is relatively new… I began experimenting with this technique around 2018… before then, I mostly worked on my “Lifelines” series, either digitally or as oil / acrylic on canvas. I’ll be posting more of these as time allows.
I’m so glad you’ve stoped-by, feel free to drop me a line, I would love to hear from you!
